EARLY COLLEGE | HOW TO APPLY

The Early College @Lorain High School program accepts 100 students entering 9th grade each school year. Acceptance to the program is based upon attendance, school discipline history, grades and motivation. Priority acceptance is given to first-generation college students.

STEP I

Express interest to your middle school guidance counselor
  • Meet with your guidance counselor at the middle school
  • Attend a Early College Information Session. Spring dates are as follows:
    • Longfellow 2/22/22 at 5 pm
    • Southview 2/24/22 at 7 pm

    • GJW 2/28/22 at 6 PM


STEP II
Complete the application by March 18, 2022
  • Hard copies of the application are available to pick up from the guidance office of Lorain High School.
STEP III
PARENTS: Attend a Parent Meeting
  • Parents will have the opportunity to attend a parent meeting hosted by the Early College Academy at Lorain High School staff. Invitations to accepted applicants will be sent with multiple options.
STUDENTS: 
  • Students will participate in an orientation provided by the Early College Academy at Lorain High School staff. This information sets students up for success. Invitations to accepted applicants will be sent with multiple options.

ONCE YOU ARE ACCEPTED:
Create MyCampus account
This online tool allows Early College students to register for classes, view grades and much more.

Create Canvas account
This learning management system provides students and teachers with all of the tools they need to communicate online to facilitate the educational process.

Complete Canvas orientation
Students will learn how to use the Canvas learning management system, including where to find additional help and resources for their success.

Review Class Schedule
All classes will be posted in your PowerSchool account affiliated with Lorain High School. College classes will be in MyCampus and Canvas.
