May 15, 2020  |  The Lorain City School District is pleased to announce that Patrick Coleman has been selected as the new principal of Lorain High School.

Mr. Coleman has more than 20 years in education and instructional leadership, serving most recently as principal of Cuyahoga Heights High School. His experience includes 2 years as assistant principal of Lorain High School from 2016 - 2018.

“Pat brings a wealth of knowledge stemming from his years not only as an assistant principal here in Lorain, but as a teacher in a similar urban setting,” shared Greg Ring, CEO of Lorain Schools. “It was clear throughout the interview process that Pat left our district with a lot of respect as an administrator. He was seen as someone who worked well with staff and students and had the best interests of others at heart.”

Mr. Coleman was a teacher and instructional coach with the Euclid Schools for 10 years, and also has experience in the private sector focusing on instructional technology. He earned his Masters Degree in Educational/Instructional Technology from Boise State University, and and was a member of the New and Aspiring Leaders cohort at the Harvard University Graduate School for Education in the fall of 2017.

“I’m both excited and humbled by this opportunity,” shared Coleman. “There are so many reasons to love Lorain, but the people are at the top of the list. The needs of our children will drive everything that we do. While there is no shortage of work ahead of us, we will do that work together. A culture of collaboration and shared vision is fundamental to creating the conditions that allow all of our people to reach their fullest potential.”

Mr. Coleman lives in Rocky River with his wife Amy and three children, Samantha (16), Will (14) and Alex (8). During his free time he loves to spend time with his wife and kids. “If I’m around them, I’m happy,” he shared.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Coleman back to Lorain! We're so happy to have him here with us again!
