The Lorain Academic Distress Commission this evening named Greg Ring interim Lorain Schools Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Ring will take over duties of departing CEO David Hardy, Jr. on January 3, 2020.

 

He comes to Lorain, having served as Superintendent of the Educational Service Center of Lorain County from 2012 to August 2018, when he retired. Additionally, he was Firelands Local Schools Superintendent between 2008 and 2012.

 

Mr. Ring has displayed a passion for serving in this role, stating: “I believe there have been some positive accomplishments in the Lorain City Schools and I want to do everything I can to assure the district continues to improve. This has been a challenging road for everyone involved, and my hope is to work in a spirit of cooperation to move the district toward its full potential in the interest of our students.”

 

The Lorain Academic Distress Commission was established by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction in April of 2013, pursuant to Section 3302.10 of the Ohio Revised Code. The goal of the commission is to improve academic achievement of the Lorain City School District so that its graduates are prepared to successfully enter a career, military or college pathway upon graduation. Working together with students, teachers, staff and community members in Lorain, Mr. Ring is now charged with leading the district in continuing progress toward meeting this goal.
