No Cases of Coronavirus in Lorain County

corona notice

As you well know, the community spread of Coronavirus has ramped up concern and restrictions across the state this week.

Since that time rumors have spread alleging that parents and/or students have been diagnosed or are under quarantine with confirmed or suspected cases of the disease.

The Lorain City Schools have been working closely with the Lorain County Health Commissioner, and have been assured that when an individual is identified with the Coronavirus, there is an extensive process they follow to identify any individual who may be at an increased risk as a result.

The Commissioner has assured the District that they would contact Board President Mark Ballard and/or interim CEO Greg Ring directly if any of the people they’re concerned about are in any way connected to our District.

So to confirm: no one who is connected with the Lorain City School District is on the list of those the Health Department believes may have an increased risk of contracting the Coronavirus.

Our sincere thanks to Lorain County Health Commissioner, David Covell, and his staff for being so incredibly responsive throughout this process. They've answered our calls no matter the hour of night, have extended resources and expertise to our schools, and have been a wonderful partner throughout this, and all health crises, that face our community.

We will be sure to keep you updated as we face our new reality living with Coronavirus in Ohio. Helpful tips and resources, as well as all new information, will be posted on the district website at lorainschools.org
