Principal Brittany Brookbank earned her bachelor’s degree as an intervention specialist and master’s degree in Educational Administration from Cleveland State University.
Mrs. Brookbank has served in Lorain City Schools since 2008; six years as a special education teacher and the last five as an administrator. She taught in all elementary grade levels and middle school before becoming the leader of Helen Steiner Rice Elementary.
"As a building leader I feel it is an honor to serve our students and their families. I pride myself on building relationships with students and their families. I strive to prepare our students to be successful members of our community. It is my goal as the building leader to ensure that all students have a positive experience both academically and socially on a daily basis."
On a personal note, Mrs. Brookbank is married and has three children. During her free time, she enjoys running, traveling to the beach, and spending time with family.
Assistant Principal Amanda Ward earned her bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University as an Intervention Specialist and master’s degree in Educational Administration from Baldwin Wallace University.
Mrs. Ward served as an intervention specialist for six years prior to becoming an administrator. She taught both middle school and elementary school as an intervention specialist before becoming the assistant principal of Helen Steiner Rice Elementary.
“As an assistant principal there are so many things to love about Helen Steiner Rice, the staff is so supportive, full of energy dedicated to our students, and always positive. I strive to create relationships with my students, staff, and families. I want to specifically make strides with students' social emotional learning and well-being. It is my goal as the assistant principal to ensure our students have a positive school experience at Helen Steiner Rice.”
On a personal note, Mrs. Ward is married, expecting her first child, and has a pet cat at home. During her free time, she enjoys working out, spending time with family, and traveling.
